Building Retail Fixtures with Hammerhead Design Build

PRO Series CNC Router Sign Making & Carvings Exhibit & Prop Fabrication ShopSabre Spotlight
What CNC router do retail fixture fabricators use? Hammerhead Design Build cuts laminated plywood, ACM panels, and solid surface material for retail store fixtures on a ShopSabre Pro 408.

Hammerhead Design Build, based in [CITY, STATE], has designed and fabricated commercial spaces for 12 years, with a heavy focus on retail store fixtures: counters, nesting tables, shelving, solid surface waterfalls, and signage.

Before the CNC, everything was cut by hand. Square parts were ripped on the table saw, and anything round or obtuse was cut with a router after a long setup. Ten sheets a day was a lot.

Hammerhead now runs a ShopSabre Pro 408 from the Pro Series CNC router line. The automatic tool changer handles frequent swaps between 3/8" and 1/8" compression bits for MDF and laminated plywood, and a vacuum hold-down powered by a Becker pump locks sheets square against alignment pins. The shop cuts well over 100 sheets in a typical week and fabricated most of a North Hills retail store in-house before installation. Color-coded CNC cut lists and nested parts keep that volume aligned with the lean manufacturing the team practices.

The same workflow applies to store fixture manufacturers, casework and millwork shops, display and exhibit builders, and commercial interior contractors cutting sheet goods, composite panels, and solid surface across multiple jobs at once.

ShopSabre CNC designs and builds CNC routers, plasma tables, and fiber lasers in Lakeville, Minnesota. Watch the full ShopSabre Spotlight to see how Hammerhead Design Build takes a retail job from design to install, and get a quote for your own shop below.
