Building a Custom Aluminum Overflow Tank with a Fiber Laser

CNC Fiber Laser FiberSabre 2kW Fiber Laser CNC Aluminum & Brass Machining ShopSabre Spotlight

Brad Goodman of Goodman Metal Products walks through the complete process of fabricating a custom aluminum radiator overflow tank for a street rod using the ShopSabre FiberSabre.

Starting with a two-piece design in Fusion 360, Brad shows how the parts are prepared as DXF files before being cut from 1/8-inch aluminum. He also demonstrates how laser-etched bend lines and branding help eliminate guesswork during forming while creating a clean, professional finished product.

From precise cutting and tight-fitting components to press brake forming and TIG welding, this project shows how fiber laser technology can improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency throughout the fabrication process.
